Frankfurt Airport sees steady passenger growth in early 2024 despite regional shifts

Frankfurt Airport has recorded steady growth over the first half of 2024. Passenger numbers rose by 1.4% compared to the same period last year, reaching 29.1 million. The trend continued in June, with a 2.9% increase in travellers passing through the airport.

The airport saw 5.8 million passengers in June 2024 alone, up from the previous year. Part of this rise was linked to the timing of the Pentecost holidays, which boosted travel figures. Across all airports managed by Fraport AG worldwide, June costco travel climbed by 5.5%, totalling nearly 19.9 million travellers.

Demand for flights varied by region. Latin America remained a strong destination, with high passenger numbers in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, travel to the Middle East declined noticeably during the same period. North America saw little change, as passenger figures stayed flat. This growth marks the fourth consecutive month of rising numbers at Frankfurt Airport. However, broader trends over the past year were not detailed in the latest reports.

The latest figures show Frankfurt Airport’s passenger traffic growing steadily in early 2024. June’s increase was supported by holiday travel, while regional demand showed mixed results. The airport operator continues to monitor shifts in global travel patterns.
