Frankfurt Airport sees 18% passenger surge in September 2022 recovery

Frankfurt Airport recorded a strong recovery in passenger numbers during September 2022. Over 5.8 million travellers passed through the airport, marking an 18.2% rise compared to the same month in 2021. Meanwhile, cargo operations also showed a slight increase in activity.

The airport handled 5.8 million passengers in September 2022, a notable jump from the previous year. This surge reflects ongoing recovery in air travel, though figures remain 13.9% lower than pre-pandemic levels in September 2019.

Despite the improvements, passenger traffic has yet to return to 2019 levels. The cargo sector, however, continues to show steady progress. Both trends highlight Frankfurt Airport’s gradual rebound in the wake of pandemic disruptions.
