Frankfurt Airport battles thunderstorm chaos with late-night flights

Thunderstorms disrupted flights at Frankfurt Airport on Sunday evening, causing delays that extended operations beyond usual nighttime restrictions. Aircraft noise continued past 11:00 p.m. as planes took off and landed later than normal due to the severe weather.

The airport faced three temporary suspensions on Sunday because of a large thunderstorm system. This affected both arrivals and departures, forcing delays across the schedule.

The storm-related delays pushed operations beyond standard nighttime limits. Both arrivals and departures continued until just before midnight, easing congestion caused by the weather. Normal restrictions resumed once the thunderstorms passed.
