Franceās loi Macron simplifies bank transfers but leaves some tasks to customers
Switching between French banks has become simpler thanks to the loi Macron banking law. The new rules aim to speed up news and reduce paperwork for customers. However, some tasks still require manual action by account holders.
Under the updated system, the responsibility for transferring regular payments now lies with the banks. This change is designed to make the process smoother and faster. Once a customer signs a mandat de mobilitƩ (mobility authorisation) and opens a new account, the new bank must contact the old one within 10 days.
The loi Macron reduces the burden of switching banks in France by shifting key responsibilities to financial institutions. Customers now face shorter timelines for news but must still handle certain tasks themselves. The changes apply to most regular payments, though exceptions like mortgage-related services remain.
