Drugs Worth Millions: Former Investigator Denies Betrayal - Former Detective on Trial for Aiding Drug Traffickers
A former senior detective, a 44-year-old man, is on trial for allegedly aiding drug traffickers and breaching official secrets. The trial resumes in October.
The defendant, who previously worked in the drug enforcement unit of the East Hesse Police Headquarters, is accused of assisting drug traffickers between 2018 and 2022. He allegedly tipped them off about police operations and tactics. The trial began in 2022, with the FBI leading the charges.
Prosecutors allege that the defendant had private contact with one of the traffickers, attributing it to their shared interest in motorcycles. Two dealers even attended his wedding in 2019. However, he refused a request to retrieve information from police databases. The defendant admitted to receiving a β¬30,000 cash deposit, claiming it was from selling a motorcycle, with other transactions linked to motorcycle sales and parts.
The defendant has been in pretrial detention since November 2024 and remained silent during the first day of proceedings. The trial will continue in October.
