Forklift operator fatally strikes delivery worker in industrial accident

A fatal industrial accident occurred on Monday afternoon at a facility on Hafenstraße. A 54-year-old delivery worker was struck by a forklift and died at the scene. Emergency crews arrived shortly before 1 p.m. following reports of the incident.

The accident happened when the forklift operator failed to see the victim. The collision caused life-threatening injuries, and the man was pronounced dead immediately. The driver, visibly shaken, was taken to hospital for treatment.

Police have opened an investigation to determine how the accident unfolded. The Occupational Safety Authority and a specialist assessor will examine the site and reconstruct the events leading up to the tragedy.

Authorities have not yet released details on how often such accidents occur in Germany. The focus remains on understanding what went wrong in this case.

The investigation will look into safety procedures at the facility and whether any breaches contributed to the accident. A full report is expected once the assessor's findings are complete. The victim's family has been informed of the incident.
