Forest Worker Killed by Falling Tree - Forest worker killed by falling treetop in northern Hesse accident

A 49-year-old forest worker has died after being struck by a falling treetop in northern Hesse. The accident happened when a section of a tree crown broke off from a height of around ten metres in a forested area of northern Hesse.

Emergency services were called, but the worker could not be saved. Police and occupational safety authorities arrived quickly to secure the area.

Investigators from the Kassel Regional Council's occupational safety division have now taken over the case. They will work alongside criminal investigators to examine the accident site in detail. Their goal is to determine exactly how the treetop broke and why it caused such severe injuries.

The occupational safety agency will also review working conditions and safety measures in place at the time. Experts will analyse the tree's condition, including its species, stability, and any potential weaknesses. Their findings will help clarify whether preventable factors contributed to the tragedy.

The investigation remains ongoing, with police and safety officials working to establish the full circumstances. Their report will outline how the accident unfolded and whether additional safety measures could have prevented it. The results may influence future guidelines for forestry work in the region.
