Ford with AfD posters vandalized in Frankfurt amid rising political attacks

A Ford carrying AfD election posters was vandalised in Frankfurt's Rödelheim district in the early hours of February 1. The vehicle's rear window was smashed with a large rock, causing an estimated €600 in damage. Police are now investigating whether the attack had a political motive. The incident took place around 3 a.m., with no one inside the car at the time. An unknown individual used a rock to break the window before fleeing on foot. Willy Klinger, head of Frankfurt's AfD branch, condemned the attack as part of a growing wave of violence targeting the party. No suspects have been identified so far. The AfD confirmed that no posters were stolen from the Ford. Klinger estimated the total repair costs, including labour, at around €600. State security police have taken over the case, given the potential political motivation. Official figures from the first half of 2025 show that the AfD was the most frequently targeted party in Germany, with 2,210 recorded crimes against its representatives. No other party faced comparable levels of attacks during that period. The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities yet to determine who carried out the attack. The damaged Ford has been assessed, and the AfD has reiterated concerns over rising violence against its members. Police continue to review evidence for possible leads.
