FlixBus bursts into flames on Frankfurt's riverbank in early-morning blaze

A parked Flixbus caught fire along Frankfurt am Main's Mainuferpromenade in the early hours of Sunday morning. Emergency services received multiple calls at around 2:11 a.m. reporting the blaze on the riverbank's southern side. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Firefighters arrived to find the bus fully engulfed in flames. The response involved 26 personnel, who worked to extinguish the fire using four hoses. The operation lasted until approximately 3:24 a.m.

Police launched an investigation into the cause shortly after the fire was contained. As of 1 February 2026, authorities have yet to release a final conclusion. Initial findings suggest a possible technical defect in the bus's electrical system, though no evidence of criminal activity has been found.

The investigation into the fire remains ongoing. Authorities continue to examine the bus's electrical components as the most likely source. No further details have been released at this time.
