FKS Audit Uncovers 37 Cases of Irregularities at Bielefeld School Construction Site
On October 1, 2025, a joint operation by Financial Controls Schwarzarbeit (FKS) units from Bielefeld and Herford resulted in an extensive audit of the Martin-Niemöller Comprehensive School construction site in Bielefeld's Schildesche district. The inspection uncovered numerous irregularities, with 37 cases requiring further investigation.
The audit, involving approximately 40 officials, encountered 58 workers from 13 different companies. A total of 31 cases were identified where employers failed to comply with the immediate notification requirement for social security. Additionally, three cases each were found to involve minimum wage violations and social benefit fraud.
The affected companies, located outside the jurisdiction of the Bielefeld Main Customs Office, will have their cases handled by the respective main customs offices. Despite the search, the name of the leader responsible for the irregular and deficient working conditions remains unknown.
The FKS inspections have shed light on significant issues within the Martin-Niemöller Comprehensive School construction project. The discovered cases will be pursued by the relevant authorities, and further investigation is underway to address the 37 cases that require additional scrutiny.
