Fire, Assault, and Drink-Driving Incidents Rock Idstein and Surroundings

A fire caused by burnt food in Idstein's sports hall on Saturday evening resulted in significant property damage, while an altercation at Geisenheim station left a man injured. Additionally, two traffic accidents occurred over the weekend, with one involving a drink-driving motorcyclist.

The Idstein fire started in the kitchen of a fitness studio on the ground floor of an older sports hall building. Fortunately, no personal injuries were reported, but the estimated property damage is around 60,000 euros.

At Geisenheim station, an 18-year-old from Oestrich-Winkel and another unidentified male attacked a 28-year-old local man, causing facial injuries. The dispute remains under investigation.

On the B417 between Hünstetten and Hünfelden, a traffic accident involved two vehicles, injuring one person and causing approximately 20,000 euros in property damage.

In a separate incident, a 65-year-old motorcyclist from the Rhein-Lahn district lost control of his KTM motorcycle on the L3033 in Heidenrod-Geroldstein, resulting in severe but non-life-threatening injuries. The motorcycle sustained damage estimated at 5,000 euros.

During a traffic control in Hünstetten on Sunday morning, a driver was found to be under the influence of alcohol, with a breath alcohol test value of 1.92 per thousand.

Authorities are urging caution on roads and in public spaces following these incidents. The cause of the Idstein fire has been determined, and investigations into the Geisenheim altercation continue. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local authorities.
