Fiat revives its compact car lineup with two bold new C-segment models
Fiat is making a comeback in the compact car market with two new C-segment models. Both an SUV and a crossover, measuring between 4.40 and 4.50 metres, will arrive in late 2023. The brand also plans to refresh its lineup with updated versions of existing favourites.
These moves come as Fiat strengthens its position as Stellantisâ urban and budget-friendly brand. The focus remains on small, practical vehicles for city driving and family use, without expanding into larger segments.
The first updates will arrive early in 2023. The 500 Mild Hybrid with a manual gearbox and the Grande Panda, powered by a gasoline engine and manual transmission, are set for launch in the first half of the year. Meanwhile, the Fiat 600âoffered with a gasoline engine and manual gearboxâwill reach dealerships by mid-2023.
Later in the year, Fiat will re-enter the C-segment with two all-new models. One will be a traditional SUV, the other a crossover, both sized around 4.40 to 4.50 metres. Buyers can choose between hybrid, fully electric, or gasoline engines paired with manual transmissions. The current Panda will stay available, rebranded as the Pandina in its most affordable version, priced under âŹ13,000. Looking further ahead, Fiat has previewed future C-segment models like the Grande Panda and Qubo L at the Brussels Motor Show. These will roll out globally from 2026, with the Grande Panda reaching South America that same year. Fiat Germanyâs 2022 sales figures were strong, driven by demand for the 500, Grande Panda, and Fiat 600. The brandâs strategy remains clear: affordable, city-friendly cars with no plans to move beyond the C-segment.
The new models will expand Fiatâs range of small, practical vehicles. Hybrid, electric, and gasoline options will give buyers more choice. With competitive pricing and a focus on urban mobility, the brand aims to maintain its position in the compact car market.
