In the picture we can see three boys standing near the desk on it, we can see two computer systems towards them and one boy is talking into the microphone and they are in ID cards with red tags to it and behind them we can see a wall with an advertisement board and written on it as Russia imagine 2013.

FBI & Google Law Enforcement Systems Targeted by Cybercriminals

Cybercriminals have targeted the FBI's eCheck system and Google's Law Enforcement Request System (LERS), posing significant risks to personal data, criminal records, and national security. The threat actor group 'Scattered Lapsus$ Hunters' claimed responsibility for the breaches, which could lead to identity fraud, compromised investigations, and damaged trust.

The group initially gained access to major customers of Salesforce, including Google, through social engineering tactics. They then claimed to have breached the FBI's eCheck system, which handles background checks, and Google's LERS platform, used for law enforcement requests. Unauthorized access to these systems could result in theft of personal and criminal records, manipulation of background checks, and national security threats.

Google has confirmed that no requests were made with the fraudulent account created by the threat actors, and no data was accessed. However, the potential impact of these breaches is severe. Exposure of user data, compromise of investigations, and fraudulent requests are all possible consequences. The group has also hinted at continuing their activities, stating they are 'going in the dark' and may impact other companies and agencies without public disclosure.

The breaches of the FBI's eCheck system and Google's LERS platform highlight the ongoing threat of cybercrime. While Google has assured that no data was accessed, the potential consequences of these breaches are serious. Organizations and agencies must remain vigilant and take necessary steps to protect their systems and data from cyber threats.
