Far-Left Extremists Target Pro-Life Church in Kassel With Tar and Graffiti
A far-left extremist attack targeted the Free Evangelical Church (FeG) in Kassel-Ost on 1 March. The incident, only revealed later, was linked to the church's pro-life position. This is not the first time the building has faced vandalism or protests.
The assailants threw tar at the church's glass façade and sprayed graffiti referencing Section 218 of Germany's Criminal Code. The same location had been attacked before, including a November 2025 incident where windows were smashed.
A counter-protest followed on 7 March during the church's Right to Life Forum. Around 70 demonstrators gathered, holding banners opposing the church's stance on abortion. Another recent attack hit ProFemina, a charity offering support to women with unplanned pregnancies. The church has repeatedly faced blockades and hostility over its pro-life activities. While no official count exists, similar incidents against Christian groups in Germany have occurred in recent years.
The latest attack adds to a pattern of targeted vandalism against the Kassel church. Authorities have not yet released details on suspects or further investigations. The church remains a focal point for clashes over abortion rights in the region.
