Explore Georg Corniclius' Career in Extensive Retrospective
An extensive retrospective of Georg Corniclius' work, 'People, Tales, Myths', is currently on display at Hanau's municipal museums until 26 April 2026. This exhibition, housed in the gallery rooms of Schloss Philippsruhe, presents a comprehensive collection of the artist's works from all phases of his career, along with selected paintings by his students.
The exhibition is accompanied by a series of four lectures, each exploring different aspects of Corniclius' life and work. The first lecture, titled 'Georg Corniclius in the memories of his contemporaries', will be given by Dr. Markus HΓ€fner on 16 October 2025. The second lecture, by Richard Schaffer-Hartmann, will discuss 'Georg Corniclius and his hometown Hanau' on 20 November 2025. Michael H. Sprenger M.A. will give the third lecture, 'Georg Corniclius - an art-historical contextualization', on 5 February 2026. The final lecture, by Diplom-Restauratorin Stefanie Gundermann, will delve into the restoration of Corniclius' artworks on 26 March 2026. All lectures will take place at 6 pm in the Red Hall of Schloss Philippsruhe and are free to attend. In addition to the lectures, guided tours and a family creative program will also be part of the exhibition's accompanying events.
