Ex-Wiesbaden Deputy Manjura Faces Trial Over Alleged Salary Fraud
A former Wiesbaden Social Affairs Deputy, Christoph Manjura (SPD), will face trial at the Wiesbaden Regional Court on October 9th. The trial, set for six dates, involves allegations of unjustified salaries and sham employment relationships, causing an estimated damage of around 112,000 euros.
Manjura, who stepped down from politics in 2023, is accused of receiving salaries from the Wiesbaden AWO district association for jobs he did not or barely worked on between 2015 and 2017. The AWO manager, Andrea Gottschalk, is also under investigation and is believed to have hoped that Manjura would favor the AWO's interests in exchange for the false employment relationships.
Manjura is further accused of having a sham employment relationship with the former Frankfurt Mayor, Peter Feldmann. Despite denying the allegations, Manjura resigned from his political position due to increasing pressure. The managing director of the AWO district association and her husband are also under investigation for their involvement in the alleged scheme. Manjura faces charges of aiding and abetting embezzlement in a particularly serious case.
The trial, scheduled for six dates, will begin on October 9th at the Wiesbaden Regional Court. If found guilty, Manjura and the other accused individuals could face severe consequences for their alleged roles in the scheme.
