A former narcotics investigator is facing trial at Darmstadt Regional Court for allegedly leaking police secrets to drug traffickers. The accused stands charged with breaching confidentiality by warning criminals about upcoming operations between 2018 and 2022. Prosecutors claim these leaks allowed cannabis worth millions of euros to flood the Offenbach area.

The trial centres on accusations that the defendant passed classified information to drug dealers. This included details about police tactics and planned raids, enabling smugglers to evade capture. The prosecution has pushed for a prison term of four years and three months.

The defence has argued for an acquittal, stating the defendant’s connection to one dealer stemmed from a shared interest in motorcycles. No specific lawyer representing the accused has been named in public records. A verdict is set to be announced on Monday at 10:00 AM.

The case hinges on whether the leaks directly aided large-scale cannabis smuggling into Offenbach. If convicted, the former investigator could face a lengthy prison sentence. The court’s decision will be delivered in the coming days.
