Eurozone Inflation Drops Slightly in September, Annual Rate Hits 2.7%
Consumer prices in the eurozone experienced a slight dip in September, with a 0.2% decrease from August. This change was driven by a 0.3% drop in energy prices, although annual inflation rose to 2.7%, the highest rate since January 2024.
Eurostat will release flash estimates for September's inflation on October 2, 2025, following the usual schedule. The annual inflation rate climbed from 1.9% in August to 2.7% in September, marking a significant increase. This rise was partly due to food prices, which decreased by 0.2% in September but increased by 4.7% annually. Transport costs also contributed, with a 1.6% decrease in September but a 1.5% annual increase.
Despite the monthly decrease in consumer prices, the annual inflation rate in the eurozone continues to rise, reaching 2.7% in September. Eurostat's upcoming flash estimates will provide further insight into the region's inflation trends.
