€2,000 Donation Boosts Young Oak Regeneration in Hünfeld’s City Forest

The Friends of Old Sargenzell Church association has generously donated €2,000 to the city of Hünfeld. The funds, raised through visitor contributions to the fruit carpet exhibition, will support a young oak regeneration area in Hünfeld’s city forest.

The association, led by Manuel Mohr, presented the donation to City Councilor Jürgen Bohl and Alina Kratofil, district forest manager for HessenForst. The city forest, a vital regional asset, contributes to economic value through timber sales and promotes biodiversity conservation, climate resilience, soil and water protection, and improved air quality.

To protect young oaks, forest workers maintain protective fencing around them, preventing damage from wildlife. Additionally, forestry staff clear competing shrubs and hedges in regeneration zones to ensure the saplings develop well.

The €2,000 donation will directly support the young oak regeneration area in Hünfeld’s city forest. The association has also partnered with Schlitzer Distillery to offer an exclusive Fruit Carpet Spirit, with proceeds supporting regional initiatives next year.
