EU to support Audi workers in Belgium with 7.5 million euros after plant closure - EU pledges €7.5M to aid workers after Audi’s Brussels plant shuts down

The European Commission has proposed a €7.5 million support package for over 3,400 workers affected by the closure of Audi’s Brussels plant. The factory, which produced electric vehicles like the Q8 e-Tron, shut its doors in February 2025, leaving thousands of workers, including 2,580 Audi employees and 834 supplier firm workers, without jobs. Audi cited falling demand for electric SUVs, ongoing structural issues, and rising logistics costs as reasons for the closure. The proposed €7.5 million from the European Globalization Adjustment Fund aims to help both former Audi staff and supplier company employees retrain and find new employment opportunities in Europe.
