EnBW’s electric fleet surges with 5,400 vehicles and 1,400 charging points
EnBW has expanded its vehicle fleet from around 3,600 in 2015 to roughly 5,400 today. This growth comes from new services, updated procurement methods, and a push for electrification. The company has also rolled out a wide-ranging charging network to support its electric vehicles (EVs). The energy supplier now operates about 1,400 charging points across 135 locations. These serve company cars, service vehicles, pool vehicles, and even employees’ private EVs. Each year, EnBW invests around two million euros to expand its internal AC charging infrastructure. Electrification efforts extend beyond the workplace. Employees can access home charging solutions with billing integration and use the EnBW Mobility charging card at public stations. The company’s strategy also reflects a shift in work patterns, with roughly 20% of its fleet now operating outside Baden-Württemberg. Maintenance and oversight have been streamlined too. Two in-house workshops handle inspections and repairs, replacing five smaller sites consolidated since 2009. Leadership in mobility management falls to Norman Scheck, who heads a team of 22, and Vanessa Hindinger, overseeing a group of 10. A new Mobility control centre in Karlsruhe now monitors Germany’s largest fast-charging network. This hub supports EnBW’s long-term plans, which include installing up to 20,000 charging points by 2030. EnBW’s fleet expansion and charging network reflect its commitment to electrification and decentralised operations. The company’s ongoing investments and infrastructure upgrades aim to support both internal needs and broader mobility solutions in the years ahead.
