Emser Straße sewer upgrades pause until 2026 for holiday traffic relief

A major sewer renovation project in Emser Straße has reached a temporary halt. Project management will pause from 22 November 2023 until March 2026, allowing the road to reopen for the Christmas season. The long-term goal is to prevent future congestion, emergency repairs, and infrastructure damage in the area.

The project began in May 2023, with crews already restoring around 250 metres of sewer pipes, 300 metres of gas and water lines, and parts of the road surface. After the winter break, work will restart in April 2026, focusing on another 160 metres of sewer upgrades and the construction of two large manhole structures.

The pause in construction means Emser Straße will reopen for public use during the festive period. When work resumes in 2026, the project will continue its phased approach, ensuring long-term reliability for utilities and road users. Full completion is expected by mid-2027.
