Elderly Woman Robbed in Offenbach by Impersonating Energy Supplier Workers
Two unknown individuals, a man and a woman, posing as energy supplier employees robbed an elderly woman in Offenbach-Bürgel on Thursday afternoon around 1:10 PM. The duo gained entry to the victim's apartment by claiming they needed to check her heating thermostats.
The woman, estimated to be around 1.65 meters tall with black hair tied in a ponytail, distracted the elderly woman in the kitchen. Meanwhile, the man, believed to be between 20 and 25 years old, searched the living room and stole several hundred euros in cash from two wallets. The man was about 1.80 meters tall, had short black hair, wore a black cap pulled low over his face, and was dressed in dark clothing. After the theft, the duo fled in an unknown direction via the Bürgeler Straße. The woman carried a clipboard with a sticker of the alleged energy supplier, adding to their deception.
Offenbach's Criminal Police have taken over the investigation and are seeking information from witnesses. Anyone with details about the perpetrators is urged to call 069 8098-1234.
The incident serves as a reminder for residents to be vigilant against such scams. Always verify the identity of individuals claiming to be from utility companies before letting them into your home. The investigation is ongoing, and more information may be released later.
