Elderly Man's Medical Emergency Causes Serious Traffic Accident in Neckarsteinach
A serious traffic accident occurred in Neckarsteinach on Friday, October 17, just before 9 am. An elderly man, a resident of the Neckar valley, was involved in the incident after presumably suffering a medical emergency. The man's car veered off the road to the right and hit a parked car, causing significant damage to both vehicles.
The man was immediately attended to and resuscitation efforts were initiated on site. He was subsequently taken to the hospital for further medical care. The road was temporarily closed during the investigation, causing traffic disruptions in the area. The total damage from the accident is estimated to be around 12,000 EUR. The investigation into the accident is being led by the local police directorate, which falls under the jurisdiction of either the Rhein-Neckar area or the nearby Ludwigshafen police directorate, currently headed by Police Director Jacqueline Schröder since 2025.
The cause of the accident is believed to be a medical emergency suffered by the driver. The investigation is ongoing, and the condition of the man involved is currently unknown. The road has since been reopened, and traffic has resumed as normal.
