Elderly Man Scammed by Fake Bank Employee in Offenbach Fraud Case

A senior citizen in Offenbach was tricked by a man posing as a bank employee on Saturday morning. The fraudster convinced the victim to hand over his debit card under false pretences. Authorities are now searching for witnesses to help with their investigation.

The incident took place in Lilienstraße, where the suspect approached the elderly man. He claimed to be introducing a new banking service that involved withdrawing cash and delivering it to customers at home. The victim believed the story and surrendered his debit card for inspection.

The fraudster briefly examined the card before leaving. Only later in the day did the senior citizen realise he had been scammed. Police have not yet confirmed whether the stolen card details were used for unauthorised transactions.

The suspect is described as being between 40 and 50 years old, around 1.8 metres tall, with short dark hair. He wore dark clothing at the time of the offence. The Offenbach Criminal Police are urging anyone who saw suspicious behaviour in the area that morning to come forward.

Witnesses with information are asked to contact the Offenbach Criminal Police at +49 69 8098-1234. The investigation remains ongoing, with officers working to identify the suspect and recover the stolen card. Authorities have not ruled out further attempts at fraud in the area.
