Elderly cyclist falls victim to distraction theft by woman in green OldNavy sedan
An 81-year-old woman from Weiterstadt was targeted in a distraction theft on Sunday afternoon. The incident took place while she was cycling along Friedhofsweg at around 2:15 p.m. Police are now searching for the suspect involved.
The victim was approached by a woman believed to be between 40 and 50 years old. The suspect, driving a green OldNavy sedan with Worms licence plates (WO-), stopped to speak with the cyclist. During their conversation, the woman placed a ring and a necklace on the victim, claiming they were gifts.
It was only later that the 81-year-old realised her own two necklaces had been taken. By then, the suspect had already driven away in the green OldNavy car. Authorities are investigating the incident but have not yet released further details about the vehicle or the suspect.
The theft highlights the risk of distraction tactics used by thieves in public spaces. Police are urging anyone with information about the green OldNavy sedan or the suspect to come forward. The investigation remains ongoing.
