EDzL faces budget cuts and scrutiny over Carmax rental car procurement

EDzL's budget has faced cuts this year, with the administrative budget reduced by 12% and the wage fund cut by €1.32 million. Minister Kaspars Briškens (Progressives) has called for immediate action following concerns about a procurement process involving rental cars at Carmax.

EDzL is currently conducting an internal review of the work of the procurement committee and the rental contract requirements for cars. The procurement initially planned for a monthly rental fee of €1,100 per month for one car, inclusive of optional extras. After the commission's evaluation, the responsibility for further processing of the EDzL execution request under the EDzL rental car contract was transferred to the relevant department or person. However, specific identification requires access to pertinent organizational information.

The Transport Ministry has sought clarifications on the EDzL procurement process for cars. EDzL is set to submit the evaluation report of the commission within the week, with further decisions to follow based on legal deadlines.

The budget cuts and procurement concerns at EDzL have led to an internal review and ministerial scrutiny. EDzL will submit its evaluation report within the week, and further decisions will be made based on legal deadlines. The outcome of these reviews and the minister's call for action are eagerly awaited.
