East German Construction Industry Doubts 500B Euro Infrastructure Plan
The East German Construction Industry Association has expressed skepticism regarding a planned 1 million euro investment in infrastructure modernization. The association's CEO, Robert Momberg, has described the situation as a financial political juggling act.
The association doubts that the entire 1 million euros will be spent on new projects, suspecting that some funds may be used to relabel existing initiatives. To ensure targeted use of funds and traceable progress, the association demands transparent project lists. It calls for faster planning and approval procedures, along with strengthening municipal administration through additional specialists.
The association believes that the long-term growth effect of the special fund depends on measurable progress in roads, bridges, rails, and networks. After 2036, the investments must be carried by regular budgets, and the association advocates for a return to fiscal discipline.
The East German Construction Industry Association sees the potential for the program to reduce Germany's investment backlog and strengthen competitiveness. However, it emphasizes that improvements by federal and state governments are necessary for the successful implementation of the multi-billion euro infrastructure modernization program.
