Early Morning House Fire in Schlitz-Bernshausen Leaves Four Displaced

A house fire broke out in Schlitz-Bernshausen in the early hours of Saturday morning. Emergency crews were called to the scene just after 12:45 a.m. on January 3. Four people inside the property escaped without serious injury but were later checked in hospital.

The blaze began in an outdoor trash bin before spreading to the house. Firefighters from Schlitz, Lauterbach, and Alsfeld arrived quickly to tackle the flames. Their efforts brought the fire under control, preventing further damage.

The Vogelsberg Criminal Police have opened an investigation into the cause. The Hessian Criminal Police (HEK) are now leading the case. Authorities estimate the property damage at around €150,000.

All four residents managed to leave the building safely before firefighters arrived. They were taken to nearby hospitals as a precaution. The exact origin of the fire remains under investigation by the HEK.
