Düsseldorf police hunt fraudsters posing as repairmen in elderly home robberies

Elderly residents in Düsseldorf’s Nordend district were targeted by fraudulent tradesmen on May 13, 2025. The suspects posed as repairmen to enter homes before stealing cash and jewelry. Police have now launched an appeal for witnesses after two separate incidents were reported.

The first theft occurred in Adlerflychtstraße, where two men tricked their way into the home of a 98-year-old victim. They made off with cash and jewelry worth thousands. Witnesses described one suspect as around 170 cm tall with short dark hair, while the second was an older man, aged 50-60, with short thin black hair.

A second burglary took place in Hansaallee, where a 78-year-old woman was robbed of jewelry valued in the low five figures. The suspects in this case were described as a tall man with thick black hair, wearing a green tracksuit, and another man with a receding hairline, dressed in a yellow and red work vest.

Police have warned residents to remain vigilant and avoid letting unknown individuals into their homes. Offenders often disguise themselves as tradesmen or utility workers to gain access.

Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward. Witnesses can contact police on 069 / 755 - 52499 or visit their nearest station. The investigation into both incidents remains ongoing.
