Police in Baunatal, near Kassel, have arrested a 43-year-old man for stealing a medical device worth nearly €2,000. The suspect, a relative of a woman who was being treated by paramedics, hid the suction pump on a balcony before being caught.

The incident occurred on Monday evening. Paramedics were attending to a woman at her home when they discovered the stolen medical equipment on the balcony. They alerted the police, who swiftly responded and conducted a search. During the search, they found the suction pump and arrested the suspect.

The suspect, who was intoxicated at the time, had a blood alcohol level of 3.1 per mille, according to a breath alcohol test conducted at the police station Süd-West in the Kassel area. The stolen device, worth nearly €2,000, was recovered and returned to its rightful owners.

The suspect is currently in police custody, facing charges for the theft of the medical device. The police have praised the paramedics for their vigilance in discovering the stolen equipment and alerting authorities.
