Drunk E-scooter Driver Arrested in Frankfurt After Red Light Run and Assault on Officer
Police in Frankfurt arrested a 48-year-old man last night after he was found driving an electric scooter erratically and running a red light. The man, whose name has not been disclosed, was later charged with suspected drunk driving and resisting law enforcement officers.
The incident began when officers noticed the man riding his electric scooter recklessly in the city's Stiftstraße. He was swerving erratically and ignored a red traffic light. When approached by police, the man began insulting the officers and attempted to flee on foot. However, a female officer managed to restrain him. During the struggle, the intoxicated man injured the officer's wrist.
A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level well over 0.2%, confirming the officers' suspicion of drunk driving. The man was subsequently charged with both drunk driving and resisting arrest.
The 48-year-old man's electric scooter was impounded, and he was taken into custody pending further investigation. The injured officer was treated at the scene and is expected to make a full recovery. This incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the importance of responsible behaviour on our roads.
