Drunk driver with 2.26‰ alcohol caught in Hesse police sting

Police in southern Hesse have caught a heavily intoxicated driver during a recent traffic operation. The checkpoint was part of the Roadpol 'Alcohol & Drugs' campaign week, targeting impaired drivers on the roads. Officers from HĂśchst police station set up the control on B45 in MĂźmling-Grumbach.

During the operation, 49 vehicles were stopped, and 58 occupants were checked. One driver, a 43-year-old man, was found with a blood alcohol concentration of 2.26‰—far above the legal limit. Authorities immediately took him into temporary custody and suspended his license.

The arrested driver will appear in court over the drunk driving offence. His license remains suspended while the case proceeds. Meanwhile, police have warned that further checks will take place to maintain road safety in the region.
