Car Crashes Into Distribution Box - Power Outage - Drunk driver crashes into power box, leaving Wiesbaden homes in the dark
A drunk driver crashed into an electrical distribution box in Wiesbaden early on February 22. The collision knocked out power for homes within a 100-metre radius of Föhrerstraße. Repairs are now underway, but some residents may remain without electricity until Sunday afternoon at the earliest.
The accident happened in the morning when a 26-year-old driver, heavily intoxicated, lost control of their vehicle. The car struck a power distribution box, cutting off supply to nearby households.
Emergency crews worked quickly to restore electricity, and service was back on by early afternoon. However, full repairs to the damaged infrastructure will take longer. Authorities have not confirmed how many homes were affected, but the disruption was contained to an area within 100 metres of the crash site.
No other neighbourhoods reported major outages from the incident. The driver faces charges related to drink-driving and property damage.
Residents in the affected zone should prepare for possible power cuts until at least Sunday. The driver's intoxication led directly to the crash and subsequent outage. Repairs continue as crews work to fully restore the damaged electrical system.
