Wetzlar saw two separate incidents unfold within 24 hours. On Thursday morning, thieves stole three high-value e-bikes from a garage in Garbenheim. Later that evening, a drunk driver crashed into a police car in the same city.
The first incident took place overnight between Wednesday and Thursday. Thieves broke into a garage on Hausergarten Street, accessing it through a neighbouring property. They made off with three e-bikes, valued at a total of €18,700. Police have yet to identify the stolen models or determine who was responsible.
Later, on Thursday evening, a 35-year-old man was arrested after colliding with a police vehicle. Officers measured his blood alcohol level at around 0.20%, well above the legal limit. The crash caused minor damage to the police car, estimated at €2,300.
The stolen e-bikes remain missing, and investigators are still searching for leads. Meanwhile, the drunk driver faces charges following his arrest. Both cases are under active investigation by local authorities.
