Drunk Driver Causes €30k Crash in Giessen; Passenger Seriously Injured
A serious traffic accident occurred in Kantstraße, Giessen, at around 16:30 on 15.10.2025. A 32-year-old man driving a VW Golf was found to have a blood alcohol content over 2.1, leading to his arrest and charges of driving under the influence.
The incident began when the driver, who has not been publicly named, failed to yield at the Bismarkstraße / Kantstraße intersection. He collided with a black Pajero driven by a 74-year-old. The force of the impact caused both vehicles to be severely damaged and had to be towed away. The driver's reckless behaviour resulted in a serious accident, with the VW Golf leaving the road and rolling over several times.
The driver was taken to the station and resisted, with his driver's license confiscated. Police officers had noticed an alcohol smell from the driver and confirmed his blood alcohol content to be around 2.1. A blood sample was taken, and the man now faces charges including driving under the influence. The total damage from the accident was estimated to be around €30,000.
A 19-year-old passenger in the VW Golf was seriously injured in the accident. The driver's actions have led to significant damage and potential legal consequences. The incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of driving under the influence.
