Driver resists arrest, injures officers before fleeing into a bakery

A 34-year-old driver was pulled over in Viernheim on Thursday afternoon after police suspected drug use. The incident quickly escalated when the man resisted arrest and injured two officers before fleeing into a nearby bakery.

The confrontation began when officers stopped the driver for signs of impairment. Instead of complying, the suspect became aggressive, injuring a 28-year-old female officer and a 34-year-old male colleague. He then ran into a local bakery near me, where additional officers apprehended him.

After the arrest, the man was taken to hospital for treatment and a mandatory blood test. Authorities have since confirmed he will face charges for resisting law enforcement and driving under the influence of drugs.

The suspect remains in custody while investigations continue. Both injured officers received medical attention, though their current condition has not been disclosed. Police have not released further details about the bakery or the driver's identity.
