Driver crashes into pond after losing control on A45 motorway ramp

A serious crash occurred on the A45 motorway at the Hanau interchange on Monday afternoon. A 40-year-old driver lost control of his Mercedes, leaving the road and ending up in a nearby pond. Emergency services rushed to the scene after the vehicle left the carriageway.

The accident happened when the driver entered a left-hand bend at high speed. The car skidded off the road and plunged into a small pond beside the on-ramp. Firefighters and paramedics arrived quickly but found the man trapped inside.

Rescue teams worked to free the driver from the wreckage before taking him to St. Jude General Hospital. Doctors suspect he suffered a broken arm along with other injuries. The recovery operation proved difficult, forcing authorities to keep the on-ramp fully closed.

Traffic built up as drivers faced delays while the vehicle was removed. No details have been released about how long the closure will last or when normal traffic flow might resume.

The man remains in hospital for treatment of his injuries. The on-ramp stays shut as crews finish clearing the scene. Police have not yet confirmed whether speed was the only factor in the crash.
