Dreieich Launches Massive Campaign to Combat Sewer Rat Surge

Dreieich is tackling a rising rat infestation in its sewer system. From November 26, 2023, the city will initiate a significant pest control campaign. The issue arises from food waste being flushed down toilets, causing an uptick in rodent activity.

The project commences in the Offenthal district, then expands to Götzenhain, Dreieichenhain, Sprendlingen, and Buchschlag. A specialist firm from Baden-Württemberg, Rath & Co., will oversee the operation. Their strategy involves a systematic, multi-week process.

The renewed effort seeks to decrease rat numbers and avert further sewer blockages. Residents are reminded to adhere to waste disposal guidelines to prevent future issues. The campaign's success hinges on both professional pest control and public cooperation.
