Dramatic 70km Chase: Drunk Driver Arrested on A5 Highway
A dramatic car chase unfolded on the A5 highway in Hesse and Baden-Württemberg early Thursday, 9th October 2025. A 34-year-old driver, suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, led police on a 70-kilometer chase that ended near the Kronau interchange in Karlsruhe. The chase began near Bickenbach when officers attempted to pull over the uninsured vehicle. The driver, who was also without a valid license, sped off southwards. Multiple patrol cars from South Hesse and Baden-Württemberg police headquarters joined the chase. During the high-speed pursuit, the driver sideswiped a patrol car. Miraculously, the car remained functional and no injuries were reported. After approximately 70 kilometers, the driver was finally stopped and arrested near the Kronau interchange in Karlsruhe. The 34-year-old driver now faces charges of driving under the influence, reckless driving, and driving without a license or insurance.
