Dietzenbach's L3001 Upgrade Resumes with Bike Lanes and Accessibility Boost

Construction on the 'South 1' section of State Road L3001 in Dietzenbach will restart on October 16, 2023. The six-week project forms part of ongoing upgrades to improve cycling infrastructure and accessibility along the route.

The latest works focus on the stretch between Jungfern-Wingert-Straße and Götzenhainer Straße. Here, the road cross-section will be redesigned, with the western sidewalk narrowed to make space for a dedicated bike lane. Traffic lights at Rathenaustraße will also be temporarily switched off, replaced by a mobile signal system to manage flow during construction.

The 'South 1' section runs from the roundabout at Frankfurter and Babenhäuser Straße up to Götzenhainer Straße. Road marking and civil engineering tasks will take place, alongside improvements for accessibility. These include barrier-free bus stops and pedestrian crossings, ensuring easier movement for all users.

This phase follows earlier changes to the 'Central' segment of L3001, completed in 2022. There, the road was reduced from four lanes to two, allowing for extra-wide bike lanes. Traffic restrictions will remain in place along Darmstadtstraße while the current work continues.

The broader upgrade programme began in 2021, aiming to enhance cycling and pedestrian access. However, no data is available on shifts in car or bicycle traffic since the improvements started.

The six-week project will introduce a new bike lane and improved pedestrian facilities. Once finished, the section between Jungfern-Wingert-Straße and Götzenhainer Straße will offer better cycling routes and accessibility. Temporary traffic measures, including mobile signals, will remain until the work is complete.
