Deutsche Bahn's New Line to Directly Serve Frankfurt Airport's Terminal 3

Deutsche Bahn is building a new railway connection between Zeppelinheim and Walldorf to directly serve the upcoming Terminal 3 at Frankfurt am Main Airport. This double-track line, part of the 'Frankfurt RheinMain plus' infrastructure program, will enhance regional transport and is set to open in 2026.

The new line, scheduled to be completed in 2026, will connect Terminal 3 directly to the existing regional transport network. It will feature a modern, barrier-free underground station beneath the terminal, serving S-Bahn line 7 every 15 minutes and Regional Express line 70 hourly.

Construction began in 2020, with preliminary planning starting in 2021. The project is proceeding in coordination with the planned Frankfurt-Mannheim new line. In addition to the rail connection, an underground bus station is also being built.

The new Terminal 3, with a capacity for up to 21 million passengers per year, will benefit from this direct rail connection. The project, a collaboration between the federal government, state, city, RMV, and Deutsche Bahn, aims to strengthen rail transport in the region.
