Fatal Accident on the B27 in Eastern Hesse - Deadly Head-On Collision on Bundesstraße 27 Claims One Life

A fatal crash on Bundesstraße 27 in eastern Hesse left one driver dead and another seriously injured. The collision happened when a car crossed into oncoming traffic and struck a truck. Emergency services rushed to the scene near the Hersfeld-Rotenburg district. The accident began when a 32-year-old driver veered into the wrong lane. Their vehicle collided head-on with a truck driven by a 47-year-old man from Gersfeld. The truck driver suffered severe injuries and had to be cut free from his cab before being taken to hospital. A 24-year-old motorist in a car behind also sustained minor injuries. The crash caused extensive damage, wrecking four vehicles in total. Authorities later estimated the property damage at €125,000. The 32-year-old driver died at the scene from their injuries. Police continue to investigate the cause of the collision. The road remained closed for several hours while emergency crews cleared the wreckage.
