A serious multi-vehicle crash on the A3 near Wiesbaden-Medenbach has left three people with serious injuries and caused significant traffic disruption. The incident involved a 55-year-old driver who lost control of their car, leading to a chain reaction involving a semi-truck and several other vehicles.

The accident began when a 55-year-old driver, whose name has not been disclosed, lost control of their car on the southbound carriageway of the A3. Their vehicle skidded into the path of an oncoming semi-truck, triggering a sequence of collisions involving five more cars. The wreckage of these vehicles completely blocked the southbound lane, necessitating a highway closure.

The crash resulted in a 10-kilometer traffic jam at the site, with nearby roads also heavily congested. In total, thirteen people were injured, with three sustaining serious injuries. Authorities are urging any witnesses to come forward and contact the Wiesbaden highway police to aid in the investigation.

The A3 southbound carriageway remains closed following the crash, with traffic diversions in place. Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes. The cause of the initial driver's loss of control is under investigation.
