Dax Drops 0.4% Despite Merck's 10% Surge
The Dax index experienced a decline on Wednesday, dropping by 0.4% to approximately 24,340 points by midday. Despite the overall decrease, some stocks showed significant gains, with Merck leading the pack with a 10.05% increase.
Merck's strong performance pushed it to the top of the DAX leaderboard, followed closely by Siemens Energy with a 5% gain. Siemens Energy has been a notable driver of DAX gains in 2025, contributing around 15% to the index's rise due to its stock price surge and growing demand in energy technology.
At the other end of the spectrum, Brenntag, Airbus, and Porsche were the poorest performers, indicating a mixed day of trading for the DAX components.
The Dax closed Wednesday's trading session in the red, with a 0.4% decrease. While the index as a whole struggled, individual stocks like Merck and Siemens Energy demonstrated significant gains, highlighting the varied performance within the DAX.
