Darmstadt Rocks by Hate Crime, Zoo Burglary, Tram Accident
Darmstadt has witnessed a series of incidents this week, including a suspected hate crime at a synagogue, a burglary at the local zoo, and a tram accident that severely injured a 93-year-old woman. Police have arrested a 35-year-old man and are seeking witnesses for further information.
On Wednesday, an unknown individual threw a bottle at the entrance of Darmstadt’s synagogue. A 25-year-old suspect was later arrested in connection with this incident. Meanwhile, intruders broke into a building between 5:00 PM and 8:00 AM, stealing cash receipts. The total financial and property damage remains unknown.
In a separate incident, a 35-year-old man allegedly broke down a door and set several items of clothing on fire. He has been taken into provisional custody by the police.
Between Wednesday, 15th and Thursday, 16th, the Zoo Vivarium was burglarized. However, there is no public information available about this incident or any likely perpetrators.
