Customs Seize €113,400 in Unpaid Fees from Croatian Tour Bus

Customs authorities in Konstanz made a significant discovery on September 29, 2025. They inspected a bus from Croatia and found unpaid passenger transport fees amounting to 113,400 euros.

The unpaid fees, which included late charges, dated back to 2022. Border enforcement, permitted for public-law financial claims, was directed against the foreign-based debtor. The inspected bus was carrying 43 passengers on a tour from France to Strasbourg, passing through Konstanz. During the inspection, the travel company, whose name remains unidentified, paid 50,000 euros of the claims via immediate transfer.

The total unpaid amount, after the immediate transfer, stands at 63,400 euros. The Croatian bus was subject to single taxation for transport, applicable to foreign-registered vehicles transporting tourists within Germany.
