Customs officer arrested for demanding bribe to clear printer shipment

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against a Customs Appraiser for allegedly demanding a bribe. The official is accused of seeking money to clear an import shipment of inkjet printers. The complaint led to an investigation under anti-corruption laws.

The incident began when the accused allegedly demanded Rs 70,000 to release the consignment. After discussions, the amount was lowered to Rs 50,000. The complainant then approached the CBI for help.

The CBI’s investigation is now underway. The accused faces charges under anti-corruption regulations. The outcome will determine whether further legal action follows.
