Crimewave hits Limburg: Thefts, burglaries, and graffiti in 48 hours
A series of crimes struck the Limburg region over two days in mid-March 2026. Thieves stole a van loaded with expensive tools, while vandals targeted a school and a rowing club. Police are now investigating multiple incidents involving theft, burglary and graffiti.
The first incident took place in Mengerskirchen-Winkels on Wednesday, March 18, at 5:00 AM. A white Mercedes Sprinter van, registered as LM-L 214, was stolen from its parking spot. The vehicle contained professional tools, bringing the total loss to tens of thousands of euros.
Between Monday, March 16, and Tuesday, March 17, a rowing club in Weilburg was broken into. Unknown offenders forced their way into the **Weilburg Rowing Association** clubhouse and workshop. They made off with a transporter, tools, and even a jukebox before fleeing the scene. Around the same time, a vocational school in Weilburg suffered damage. Several cars in the parking lot were scratched, and the school building itself was covered in graffiti. Dozens of inscriptions were sprayed across the walls, prompting an investigation by the state security division. Separately, a school in Limburg also fell victim to vandalism. Graffiti appeared on its exterior between Monday afternoon and Tuesday morning.
Police have confirmed these incidents but have not released overall crime statistics for 2026. The break-ins, thefts, and vandalism remain under active investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
