Crime wave strikes Rheingau-Taunus with arson, vandalism and fraud in two weeks
A series of crimes took place across the Rheingau-Taunus district over the past two weeks. Incidents included arson, vandalism, burglary, and fraud, with police investigating multiple cases. Several locations were targeted, leaving behind damage and financial losses.
On Saturday, November 22, 2025, an unidentified vehicle struck four concrete stone pillars in Aarbergen-RĂźckershausen before fleeing. The hit-and-run caused roughly âŹ1,000 in damage. Witnesses reported a 19-year-old male driver from Rheingau-Taunus and an 18-year-old female passenger from Aarbergen, though no arrests have been made. The Limburg-Weilburg police are handling the investigation.
Between Monday, November 10, and Tuesday, November 11, 2025, vandals spray-painted offensive graffiti on a school building in Taunusstein-Bleidenstadt. The blinds and a small hut at the skate park were covered in insulting and partially inciting messages. Around the same time, two masked individuals were spotted on a property in Hohenstein-Breithardt at 6:30 PM. One wore a black cap, light jacket, dark pants, and sneakers, while the other had on a light jacket, light pants, dark shoes, and gloves. Authorities suspect a possible link to the vandalism. On Friday, November 21, 2025, burglars broke into a single-family home on Im Grund street in Hohenstein-Holzhausen Ăźber Aar. Between 3:40 PM and 7:30 PM, they forced open two patio doors and stole cash. That same day, a senior citizen in Geisenheim fell victim to a scam involving fake bank employees. Fraudsters tricked the victim into revealing their PIN, then withdrew money from the account. Over the weekend, two separate arson incidents occurred. On Sunday, November 23, 2025, unknown individuals set fire to rubbish in HĂźnstetten-Ketternschwalbach, damaging a storage facility and causing nearly âŹ1,000 in losses. Earlier that same day, a gumball machine in Walluf was deliberately set ablaze, resulting in several hundred euros in damage.
Police are actively investigating each case, though no suspects have been publicly named yet. The incidents have left residents concerned, with financial losses totalling thousands of euros. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
